My Journey, to Devkund Waterfall

I love to walk you through my memorable solo journey to the monsoon escapade Devkund Waterfall. I am so happy to share my enchantment of immersing in nature’s rainy spectacle and elucidate the distinctive challenges and gratifications that accompany a solitary trek amidst the monsoon. I chose a weekday for this trek and I was doing solo.

It was a challenge since I decided to do this alone, I started around 4 in the morning to reach early, since the rains had stopped and it might be sunny, I reached at 7 am by traveling 106 km from Pune to Bhira dam and when I looked around, no one was there, not even the guides and management. I enquired and villagers mentioned they would come at 7:30 am.

I took a sip of tea and Poha for breakfast and in the meantime the guides and management guys arrived and guided me on how to go and come. They charge rupees 150 for a guide and rupees 100 for car parking. You must go to the main parking where the trek starts, don’t park at other location else you need to walk a long way.

I found many beautiful places on this trek, like the above hanging bridge, recently made but very scenic. The water was pure emerald color, very clean and you could see each stone inside. Some mesmerizing views are there in my vlog and photo gallery below. You can hear many voices of birds, insects, and animals around. It’s a memorable trek of my year 2023.

I captured the ambiance of the trek in the late monsoon. Experienced the essence of the rain-drenched trail, the rhythmic cadence of droplets on leaves, and the rejuvenated greenery characteristic of this season. What a trek, I really patted my back and said Abhi you made a good decision by doing this solo on a weekday.

As I was going near the waterfall, I could hear the sound of it, and getting more excited when it came, I saw some glimpses from a distance that secreted dopamine in my body and I got a lot of energy to reach there, the last section before the waterfall is very inclined and after walking 6 km from parking with a good weight on my shoulders it was not easy to trek.

I was so excited and happy to see this waterfall, it is huge, beautiful, and worth spending time over here and I was alone so no crowd at all. I forget all the effort I took to come here and I would recommend this place it is a very mesmerizing place one should visit.

How to prepare for this trek

This trek is mostly done in monsoon and if you are going in the monsoon, then this blog is going to help you. Get good trekking shoes, sports shoes, floaters, and slippers that may hurt you, I saw many footwear and soles left on the way. Trekking is easy but it has rocks, water crossing, and slushy. I also got my foot nail hurt since I was using a tight trekking shoe.

What to carry

I would recommend carrying as less you can, but carry some energy bar, ORS, Water, and a towel. Yes, a camera is a must, even a mobile camera will be good. I took a GoPro, DJI Drone, Nikon DSLR, and Mobile phone, this was so heavy to carry, as I am a solo trekker. Download the Google map of this location before you start your trekking it would be easier in case you miss the trail.
